Read All Ahadith In The Book Of muslim

It was narrated from Umm 'Atiyyah that he (s.a.w) said: "Wash her an odd number of times, three or five or seven." And 'Umm 'Atiyyah said: "And We braided her hair in three sections."

وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ قَالَ وَقَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتِ اغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا ثَلاَثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ سَبْعًا قَالَ وَقَالَتْ أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ مَشَطْنَاهَا ثَلاَثَةَ قُرُونٍ.

It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said: "When Zainab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), died, the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said to us: 'Wash her an odd number of times, three or five, and put camphor - or a little camphor - in the fifth time. And when you have washed her, tell me."' She said: "So we told him, and he gave us his waist-wrapper and said: 'Put it next to her body (i.e., wrap her in it)."'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِى مُعَاوِيَةَ - قَالَ عَمْرٌو حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَازِمٍ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ - حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الأَحْوَلُ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ لَمَّا مَاتَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « اغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا ثَلاَثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا وَاجْعَلْنَ فِى الْخَامِسَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ فَإِذَا غَسَلْتُنَّهَا فَأَعْلِمْنَنِى ». قَالَتْ فَأَعْلَمْنَاهُ.فَأَعْطَانَا حِقْوَهُ وَقَالَ « أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ ».

It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) came to us while we were washing one of his daughters and said: 'Wash her an odd number of times, five or more than that,'" a Hadith similar to that of Ayyub and "Asim (no. 2174). And he said in the Hadith: "She said: 'And we put her hair in three braids, two at the sides and one at the front."

وَحَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَنَحْنُ نَغْسِلُ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِهِ فَقَالَ « اغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ ». بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ أَيُّوبَ وَعَاصِمٍ وَقَالَ فِى الْحَدِيثِ قَالَتْ فَضَفَرْنَا شَعْرَهَا ثَلاَثَةَ أَثْلاَثٍ قَرْنَيْهَا وَنَاصِيَتَهَا.

It was narrated from Umm 'Atiyyah that when the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) told her to wash his daughter, he said to her: "Start on her right side and with the places of Wudu'."

وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- حَيْثُ أَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَغْسِلَ ابْنَتَهُ قَالَ لَهَا « ابْدَأْنَ بِمَيَامِنِهَا وَمَوَاضِعِ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْهَا ».

It was narrated that Khabbab bin Al-Aratt said: "We emigrated with the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), in Allah's cause, seeking the Face of Allah, and Allah has assured us of our reward. Some of us have passed on and have not taken any of their reward, including Mus'ab bin 'Umair, who was killed on the day of (the Battle of) Uhud. We could not find anything with which to shroud him except a Namirah which, if we put it on his head, his feet showed, and if we put it over his feet, his head showed. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Put it over his head, and put some Idhkhir on his feet.' And for some of us the fruit has ripened and we are harvesting it."

وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِىُّ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ - وَاللَّفْظُ لِيَحْيَى قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الآخَرُونَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ - عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ خَبَّابِ بْنِ الأَرَتِّ قَالَ هَاجَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ نَبْتَغِى وَجْهَ اللَّهِ فَوَجَبَ أَجْرُنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ فَمِنَّا مَنْ مَضَى لَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ شَيْئًا مِنْهُمْ مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ. قُتِلَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَلَمْ يُوجَدْ لَهُ شَىْءٌ يُكَفَّنُ فِيهِ إِلاَّ نَمِرَةٌ فَكُنَّا إِذَا وَضَعْنَاهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ خَرَجَتْ رِجْلاَهُ وَإِذَا وَضَعْنَاهَا عَلَى رِجْلَيْهِ خَرَجَ رَأْسُهُ.فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « ضَعُوهَا مِمَّا يَلِى رَأْسَهُ وَاجْعَلُوا عَلَى رِجْلَيْهِ الإِذْخِرَ ». وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَيْنَعَتْ لَهُ ثَمَرَتُهُ فَهُوَ يَهْدِبُهَا.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) was shrouded in three Sahuli garments made of cotton, among which there was no shirt nor turban. As for the Hadith, there is some confusion about it in people's minds. It was bought for him to be shrouded in, but the Hullah was left and he was shrouded in three Sahuli garments. 'Abdullah bin Abi Bakr took it and said: 'I will keep it so that I may be shrouded in it myself.' Then he said: 'If Allah had approved of it for His Prophet, he would have been shrouded in it.' So he sold it and gave its price in charity.''

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ - وَاللَّفْظُ لِيَحْيَى - قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ - عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كُفِّنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فِى ثَلاَثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ بِيضٍ سَحُولِيَّةٍ مِنْ كُرْسُفٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلاَ عِمَامَةٌ أَمَّا الْحُلَّةُ فَإِنَّمَا شُبِّهَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فِيهَا أَنَّهَا اشْتُرِيَتْ لَهُ لِيُكَفَّنَ فِيهَا فَتُرِكَتِ الْحُلَّةُ وَكُفِّنَ فِى ثَلاَثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ بِيضٍ سَحُولِيَّةٍ فَأَخَذَهَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِى بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ لأَحْبِسَنَّهَا حَتَّى أُكَفِّنَ فِيهَا نَفْسِى ثُمَّ قَالَ لَوْ رَضِيَهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِنَبِيِّهِ لَكَفَّنَهُ فِيهَا. فَبَاعَهَا وَتَصَدَّقَ بِثَمَنِهَا.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.W) was wrapped in a Yemeni Hullah that belonged to 'Abdullah bin Abi Bakr, then it was taken off him and he was shrouded in three Suhul cloths from Yemen, among which there was no turban or shirt. 'Abdullah picked up the Hullah and said: 'I will be shrouded in it.' Then he said: 'The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) was not shrouded in it but I want to be shrouded in it!' Then he gave it in charity."

وَحَدَّثَنِى عَلِىُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِىُّ أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِىُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ أُدْرِجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فِى حُلَّةٍ يَمَنِيَّةٍ كَانَتْ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِى بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ نُزِعَتْ عَنْهُ وَكُفِّنَ فِى ثَلاَثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ سُحُولٍ يَمَانِيَةٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا عِمَامَةٌ وَلاَ قَمِيصٌ فَرَفَعَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْحُلَّةَ فَقَالَ أُكَفَّنُ فِيهَا. ثُمَّ قَالَ لَمْ يُكَفَّنْ فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَأُكَفَّنُ فِيهَا. فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهَا.

It was narrated that Abu Salamah said: "I asked 'Aishah, the wife of the Prophet (s.a.w): 'In how many (pieces of cloth) was the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) shrouded?' She said: 'In three Sahuli cloths."'

وَحَدَّثَنِى ابْنُ أَبِى عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِى سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَقُلْتُ لَهَا فِى كَمْ كُفِّنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَقَالَتْ فِى ثَلاَثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ سَحُولِيَّةٍ.

It was narrated from Ibn Shihab that Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur-Rahman told him that 'Aishah, the Mother of the Believers, said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) was covered - when he died - with a Hibrah garment."

وَحَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَحَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِىُّ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ عَبْدٌ أَخْبَرَنِى وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِى عَنْ صَالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتْ سُجِّىَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- حِينَ مَاتَ بِثَوْبِ حِبَرَةٍ.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) delivered a Khutbah one day, and he mentioned a man among his Companions who died and was shrouded in a shroud that was not good enough, and was buried at night. The Prophet (s.a.w) censured the practice of burying a man at night, so that the funeral prayer might be offered for him, unless one was compelled to do that. And the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "When one of you shrouds his brother, let him shroud him well."

حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَحَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِى أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- خَطَبَ يَوْمًا فَذَكَرَ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ قُبِضَ فَكُفِّنَ فِى كَفَنٍ غَيْرِ طَائِلٍ وَقُبِرَ لَيْلاً فَزَجَرَ النَّبِىُّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- أَنْ يُقْبَرَ الرَّجُلُ بِاللَّيْلِ حَتَّى يُصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُضْطَرَّ إِنْسَانٌ إِلَى ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ النَّبِىُّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « إِذَا كَفَّنَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُحَسِّنْ كَفَنَهُ ».
