اِذَا السَّمَآءُ انْشَقَّتْۙ۝۱

WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder,

وَ اَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَ حُقَّتْؕ۝۵

And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful,

وَ اِذَا الْاَرْضُ مُدَّتْۙ۝۳

When the earth is stretched out taut

وَ اَلْقَتْ مَا فِیْهَا وَ تَخَلَّتْۙ۝۴

And throws out whatever it contains and is empty,

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الْاِنْسَانُ اِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ اِلٰی رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلٰقِیْهِۚ۝۶

O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him.

فَاَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِیَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِیَمِیْنِهٖۙ۝۷

And he who is given his ledger in his right hand

فَسَوْفَ یُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا یَّسِیْرًاۙ۝۸

Will have an easy reckoning,

وَّ یَنْقَلِبُ اِلٰۤی اَهْلِهٖ مَسْرُوْرًاؕ۝۹

And will return to his people full of joy.

وَ اَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِیَ كِتٰبَهٗ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهٖۙ۝۱۰

But he who is given his ledger from behind his back

فَسَوْفَ یَدْعُوْا ثُبُوْرًاۙ۝۱۱

Will pray for death,
