قُلْ اُوْحِیَ اِلَیَّ اَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوْۤا اِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْاٰنًا عَجَبًاۙ۝۱

SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: ´We have heard the wondrous Qur´an,

یَّهْدِیْۤ اِلَی الرُّشْدِ فَاٰمَنَّا بِهٖ ؕ وَ لَنْ نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَاۤ اَحَدًاۙ۝۲

Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord.

وَّ اَنَّهٗ تَعٰلٰی جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَةً وَّ لَا وَلَدًاۙ۝۳

Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son.

وَّ اَنَّهٗ كَانَ یَقُوْلُ سَفِیْهُنَا عَلَی اللّٰهِ شَطَطًاۙ۝۴

Certainly the foolish among us say preposterous things of God.

وَّ اَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ اَنْ لَّنْ تَقُوْلَ الْاِنْسُ وَ الْجِنُّ عَلَی اللّٰهِ كَذِبًاۙ۝۵

We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God,

وَّ اَنَّهٗ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِّنَ الْاِنْسِ یَعُوْذُوْنَ بِرِجَالٍ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَزَادُوْهُمْ رَهَقًاۙ۝۶

But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness;

وَّ اَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوْا كَمَا ظَنَنْتُمْ اَنْ لَّنْ یَّبْعَثَ اللّٰهُ اَحَدًاۙ۝۷

So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one.

وَّ اَنَّا لَمَسْنَا السَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِیْدًا وَّ شُهُبًاۙ۝۸

We sought to pry into the secrets of the heavens, but found it full of fierce guards and shooting flames.

وَّ اَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ؕ فَمَنْ یَّسْتَمِعِ الْاٰنَ یَجِدْ لَهٗ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًاۙ۝۹

We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him.

وَّ اَنَّا لَا نَدْرِیْۤ اَشَرٌّ اُرِیْدَ بِمَنْ فِی الْاَرْضِ اَمْ اَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًاۙ۝۱۰

We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them.
