وَ اَصْحٰبُ الشِّمَالِ ۙ۬ مَاۤ اَصْحٰبُ الشِّمَالِؕ۝۴۱

But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand --

فِیْ سَمُوْمٍ وَّ حَمِیْمٍۙ۝۴۲

Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water,

وَّ ظِلٍّ مِّنْ یَّحْمُوْمٍۙ۝۴۳

Under the shadow of thick black smoke

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَّ لَا كَرِیْمٍ۝۴۴

Neither cool nor agreeable.

اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا قَبْلَ ذٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِیْنَۚۖ۝۴۵

They were endowed with good things

وَ كَانُوْا یُصِرُّوْنَ عَلَی الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِیْمِۚ۝۴۶

But persisted in that greater sin,

وَ كَانُوْا یَقُوْلُوْنَ ۙ۬ اَىِٕذَا مِتْنَا وَ كُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّ عِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبْعُوْثُوْنَۙ۝۴۷

And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again?

اَوَ اٰبَآؤُنَا الْاَوَّلُوْنَ۝۴۸

And so will our fathers?"

قُلْ اِنَّ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ وَ الْاٰخِرِیْنَۙ۝۴۹

Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations

لَمَجْمُوْعُوْنَ ۙ۬ اِلٰی مِیْقَاتِ یَوْمٍ مَّعْلُوْمٍ۝۵۰

Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined.
