قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ اَیُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ۝۳۱

He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?"

قَالُوْۤا اِنَّاۤ اُرْسِلْنَاۤ اِلٰی قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِیْنَۙ۝۳۲

They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people

لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَیْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّنْ طِیْنٍۙ۝۳۳

So as to let loose clods of clay on them

مُّسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِیْنَ۝۳۴

Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance."

فَاَخْرَجْنَا مَنْ كَانَ فِیْهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَۚ۝۳۵

So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there,

فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِیْهَا غَیْرَ بَیْتٍ مِّنَ الْمُسْلِمِیْنَۚ۝۳۶

But did not find more than a single family of believers.

وَ تَرَكْنَا فِیْهَاۤ اٰیَةً لِّلَّذِیْنَ یَخَافُوْنَ الْعَذَابَ الْاَلِیْمَؕ۝۳۷

We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment,

وَ فِیْ مُوْسٰۤی اِذْ اَرْسَلْنٰهُ اِلٰی فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِیْنٍ۝۳۸

As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority.

فَتَوَلّٰی بِرُكْنِهٖ وَ قَالَ سٰحِرٌ اَوْ مَجْنُوْنٌ۝۳۹

But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic."

فَاَخَذْنٰهُ وَ جُنُوْدَهٗ فَنَبَذْنٰهُمْ فِی الْیَمِّ وَ هُوَ مُلِیْمٌؕ۝۴۰

So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame.
