یَاْتُوْكَ بِكُلِّ سٰحِرٍ عَلِیْمٍ۝۱۱۲

"To bring all the wise magicians to you."

وَ جَآءَ السَّحَرَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ قَالُوْۤا اِنَّ لَنَا لَاَجْرًا اِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغٰلِبِیْنَ۝۱۱۳

The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?"

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَ اِنَّكُمْ لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ۝۱۱۴

"Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured."

قَالُوْا یٰمُوْسٰۤی اِمَّاۤ اَنْ تُلْقِیَ وَ اِمَّاۤ اَنْ نَّكُوْنَ نَحْنُ الْمُلْقِیْنَ۝۱۱۵

So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours."

قَالَ اَلْقُوْا ۚ فَلَمَّاۤ اَلْقَوْا سَحَرُوْۤا اَعْیُنَ النَّاسِ وَ اسْتَرْهَبُوْهُمْ وَ جَآءُوْ بِسِحْرٍ عَظِیْمٍ۝۱۱۶

"You cast it first," answered Moses. When they cast their spell, they bewitched the eyes of the people and petrified them by conjuring up a great charm.

وَ اَوْحَیْنَاۤ اِلٰی مُوْسٰۤی اَنْ اَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۚ فَاِذَا هِیَ تَلْقَفُ مَا یَاْفِكُوْنَۚ۝۱۱۷

We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time.

فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَ بَطَلَ مَا كَانُوْا یَعْمَلُوْنَۚ۝۱۱۸

Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed.

فَغُلِبُوْا هُنَالِكَ وَ انْقَلَبُوْا صٰغِرِیْنَۚ۝۱۱۹

Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated.

وَ اُلْقِیَ السَّحَرَةُ سٰجِدِیْنَۚۖ۝۱۲۰

The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage,

قَالُوْۤا اٰمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَۙ۝۱۲۱

And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds,
