وَ لِلْمُطَلَّقٰتِ مَتَاعٌۢ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ ؕ حَقًّا عَلَی الْمُتَّقِیْنَ۝۲۴۱

Making a fair provision for women who are divorced is the duty of those who are God-fearing and pious.

كَذٰلِكَ یُبَیِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ اٰیٰتِهٖ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُوْنَ۠۝۲۴۲

So does God pronounce His decrees that you may understand.

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَی الَّذِیْنَ خَرَجُوْا مِنْ دِیَارِهِمْ وَ هُمْ اُلُوْفٌ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ ۪ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ اللّٰهُ مُوْتُوْا ۫ ثُمَّ اَحْیَاهُمْ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَذُوْ فَضْلٍ عَلَی النَّاسِ وَ لٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا یَشْكُرُوْنَ۝۲۴۳

Have you never thought of men who went out of their homes as a measure of safety against death, and they were thousands, to whom God said: "Die," then restored them to life? Indeed God bestows His blessings on men; only most men are not grateful.

وَ قَاتِلُوْا فِیْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ وَ اعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ سَمِیْعٌ عَلِیْمٌ۝۲۴۴

Fight in the way of God, and remember that God hears all and knows everything.

مَنْ ذَا الَّذِیْ یُقْرِضُ اللّٰهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَیُضٰعِفَهٗ لَهٗۤ اَضْعَافًا كَثِیْرَةً ؕ وَ اللّٰهُ یَقْبِضُ وَ یَبْصُۜطُ ۪ وَ اِلَیْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ۝۲۴۵

Who will give a goodly loan to God which He might double many times? For God withholds and enlarges, and to Him you will return.

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَی الْمَلَاِ مِنْۢ بَنِیْۤ اِسْرَآءِیْلَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مُوْسٰی ۘ اِذْ قَالُوْا لِنَبِیٍّ لَّهُمُ ابْعَثْ لَنَا مَلِكًا نُّقَاتِلْ فِیْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ ؕ قَالَ هَلْ عَسَیْتُمْ اِنْ كُتِبَ عَلَیْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ اَلَّا تُقَاتِلُوْا ؕ قَالُوْا وَ مَا لَنَاۤ اَلَّا نُقَاتِلَ فِیْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ وَ قَدْ اُخْرِجْنَا مِنْ دِیَارِنَا وَ اَبْنَآىِٕنَا ؕ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَیْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوْا اِلَّا قَلِیْلًا مِّنْهُمْ ؕ وَ اللّٰهُ عَلِیْمٌۢ بِالظّٰلِمِیْنَ۝۲۴۶

Have you thought of the elders of Israel after Moses, and how they said to their apostle: "Set up a king for us, then we shall fight in the way of God?" He replied: "This too is possible that when commanded to fight you may not fight at all." They said: "How is it we should not fight in the way of God when we have been driven from our homes and deprived of our Sons?" But when they were ordered to fight they turned away, except for a few; yet God knows the sinners.

وَ قَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِیُّهُمْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَدْ بَعَثَ لَكُمْ طَالُوْتَ مَلِكًا ؕ قَالُوْۤا اَنّٰی یَكُوْنُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ عَلَیْنَا وَ نَحْنُ اَحَقُّ بِالْمُلْكِ مِنْهُ وَ لَمْ یُؤْتَ سَعَةً مِّنَ الْمَالِ ؕ قَالَ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اصْطَفٰىهُ عَلَیْكُمْ وَ زَادَهٗ بَسْطَةً فِی الْعِلْمِ وَ الْجِسْمِ ؕ وَ اللّٰهُ یُؤْتِیْ مُلْكَهٗ مَنْ یَّشَآءُ ؕ وَ اللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِیْمٌ۝۲۴۷

And when their prophet said to them: "God has raised Saul king over you," they said: "How can he be king over us when we have greater right to kingship than he, for he does not even possess abundant wealth?" "God has chosen him in preference to you," said the prophet "and given him much more wisdom and prowess; and God gives authority to whomsoever He will: God is infinite and all-wise."

وَ قَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِیُّهُمْ اِنَّ اٰیَةَ مُلْكِهٖۤ اَنْ یَّاْتِیَكُمُ التَّابُوْتُ فِیْهِ سَكِیْنَةٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ وَ بَقِیَّةٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ اٰلُ مُوْسٰی وَ اٰلُ هٰرُوْنَ تَحْمِلُهُ الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُ ؕ اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیَةً لَّكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُّؤْمِنِیْنَ۠۝۲۴۸

Their prophet said to them: "The sign of his kingship will be that you will come to have a heart full of peace and tranquility from your Lord and the legacy left by Moses´ and Aaron´s family supported by angels. This shall be a token for you if you really believe."

فَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوْتُ بِالْجُنُوْدِ ۙ قَالَ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مُبْتَلِیْكُمْ بِنَهَرٍ ۚ فَمَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ فَلَیْسَ مِنِّیْ ۚ وَ مَنْ لَّمْ یَطْعَمْهُ فَاِنَّهٗ مِنِّیْۤ اِلَّا مَنِ اغْتَرَفَ غُرْفَةًۢ بِیَدِهٖ ۚ فَشَرِبُوْا مِنْهُ اِلَّا قَلِیْلًا مِّنْهُمْ ؕ فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهٗ هُوَ وَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مَعَهٗ ۙ قَالُوْا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا الْیَوْمَ بِجَالُوْتَ وَ جُنُوْدِهٖ ؕ قَالَ الَّذِیْنَ یَظُنُّوْنَ اَنَّهُمْ مُّلٰقُوا اللّٰهِ ۙ كَمْ مِّنْ فِئَةٍ قَلِیْلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كَثِیْرَةًۢ بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِ ؕ وَ اللّٰهُ مَعَ الصّٰبِرِیْنَ۝۲۴۹

When Saul led his armies, he said: "God will test you by a stream. Whoever drinks its water will not be of me; but those who do not drink shall be on my side. The only exception will be those who scoop up a palmful of water with their hands." And but for a few they all drank of its water. When they had crossed it, and those who believed with him, they said: "We have no strength to combat Goliath and his forces today. But those who believed they have to face their Lord, said: "Many a time has a small band defeated a large horde by the will of God. God is with those who are patient (and persevere)."

وَ لَمَّا بَرَزُوْا لِجَالُوْتَ وَ جُنُوْدِهٖ قَالُوْا رَبَّنَاۤ اَفْرِغْ عَلَیْنَا صَبْرًا وَّ ثَبِّتْ اَقْدَامَنَا وَ انْصُرْنَا عَلَی الْقَوْمِ الْكٰفِرِیْنَؕ۝۲۵۰

And when they were facing Goliath and his hordes they prayed: "O Lord, give us endurance and steady our steps, and help us against the deniers of truth."
