مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ ؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ عَالِیًا مِّنَ الْمُسْرِفِیْنَ۝۳۱

They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess.

وَ لَقَدِ اخْتَرْنٰهُمْ عَلٰی عِلْمٍ عَلَی الْعٰلَمِیْنَۚ۝۳۲

And We exalted them over the other people knowingly,

وَ اٰتَیْنٰهُمْ مِّنَ الْاٰیٰتِ مَا فِیْهِ بَلٰٓؤٌا مُّبِیْنٌ۝۳۳

And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them.

اِنَّ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ لَیَقُوْلُوْنَۙ۝۳۴

Even then they say:

اِنْ هِیَ اِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْاُوْلٰی وَ مَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِیْنَ۝۳۵

"There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again.

فَاْتُوْا بِاٰبَآىِٕنَاۤ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِیْنَ۝۳۶

So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful."

اَهُمْ خَیْرٌ اَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ ۙ وَّ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ؕ اَهْلَكْنٰهُمْ ؗ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا مُجْرِمِیْنَ۝۳۷

Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners?

وَ مَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا لٰعِبِیْنَ۝۳۸

We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play.

مَا خَلَقْنٰهُمَاۤ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَ لٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ۝۳۹

We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand.

اِنَّ یَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِیْقَاتُهُمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَۙ۝۴۰

The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting,
