یُّبَصَّرُوْنَهُمْ ؕ یَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ یَفْتَدِیْ مِنْ عَذَابِ یَوْمِىِٕذٍۭ بِبَنِیْهِۙ۝۱۱

Though within sight of one another. The sinner would like to ransom himself from the torment of that Day by offering his sons,

وَ صَاحِبَتِهٖ وَ اَخِیْهِۙ۝۱۲

His wife and his brother,

وَ فَصِیْلَتِهِ الَّتِیْ تُـْٔوِیْهِۙ۝۱۳

And his family who had stood by him,

وَ مَنْ فِی الْاَرْضِ جَمِیْعًا ۙ ثُمَّ یُنْجِیْهِۙ۝۱۴

And all those who are on the earth, to save himself.

كَلَّا ؕ اِنَّهَا لَظٰیۙ۝۱۵

But never. It is pure white flame

نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوٰیۚۖ۝۱۶

That would skin the scalp.

تَدْعُوْا مَنْ اَدْبَرَ وَ تَوَلّٰیۙ۝۱۷

It will summon whoever turns his back and flees,

وَ جَمَعَ فَاَوْعٰی۝۱۸

Who amasses and then hoards.

اِنَّ الْاِنْسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوْعًاۙ۝۱۹

Surely man is greedy by nature.

اِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوْعًاۙ۝۲۰

If evil befalls him he is perturbed;
