فَلَمَّا جَآءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوْا لِفِرْعَوْنَ اَىِٕنَّ لَنَا لَاَجْرًا اِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغٰلِبِیْنَ۝۴۱

When the magicians arrived, they said to the Pharaoh: "Is there a reward for us if we are victorious?" --

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَ اِنَّكُمْ اِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ۝۴۲

"Yes," he replied. "You ´will be among the honoured."

قَالَ لَهُمْ مُّوْسٰۤی اَلْقُوْا مَاۤ اَنْتُمْ مُّلْقُوْنَ۝۴۳

Moses said to them: "Cast what you have to cast."

فَاَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَ عِصِیَّهُمْ وَ قَالُوْا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ اِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغٰلِبُوْنَ۝۴۴

So they cast their ropes and rods, and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh, we shall be victorious."

فَاَلْقٰی مُوْسٰی عَصَاهُ فَاِذَا هِیَ تَلْقَفُ مَا یَاْفِكُوْنَۚۖ۝۴۵

Then Moses threw down his staff, and lo, it swallowed up their conjurations.

فَاُلْقِیَ السَّحَرَةُ سٰجِدِیْنَۙ۝۴۶

Then the magicians fell prostrating in adoration,

قَالُوْۤا اٰمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَۙ۝۴۷

And said: "We (affirm and) believe in the Lord of all the worlds,

رَبِّ مُوْسٰی وَ هٰرُوْنَ۝۴۸

The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

قَالَ اٰمَنْتُمْ لَهٗ قَبْلَ اَنْ اٰذَنَ لَكُمْ ۚ اِنَّهٗ لَكَبِیْرُكُمُ الَّذِیْ عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ ۚ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ؕ۬ لَاُقَطِّعَنَّ اَیْدِیَكُمْ وَ اَرْجُلَكُمْ مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَّ لَاُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَۚ۝۴۹

Said (the Pharaoh): "You have come to believe in him before I gave you leave. He is surely your chief, who taught you magic. You will soon come to know: I will have your hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, and have every one of you crucified."

قَالُوْا لَا ضَیْرَ ؗ اِنَّاۤ اِلٰی رَبِّنَا مُنْقَلِبُوْنَۚ۝۵۰

They said: "There will be no harm. We shall return to our Lord.
