It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Do not go out to intercept the riders for trade, do not urge a buyer to cancel a purchase already agreed upon in order to sell him your own goods, do not artificially inflate prices; no town-dweller should sell on behalf of a Bedouin; and do not let milk accumulate in the udders of camels and sheep. Whoever buys them after that, he has the choice between two things, after he milks them: if he likes, he may keep them, and if he likes, he may return them along with a Sa' of dates."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِى الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- قَالَ « لاَ يُتَلَقَّى الرُّكْبَانُ لِبَيْعٍ وَلاَ يَبِعْ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَيْعِ بَعْضٍ وَلاَ تَنَاجَشُوا وَلاَ يَبِعْ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ وَلاَ تُصَرُّوا الإِبِلَ وَالْغَنَمَ فَمَنِ ابْتَاعَهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ بِخَيْرِ النَّظَرَيْنِ بَعْدَ أَنْ يَحْلُبَهَا فَإِنْ رَضِيَهَا أَمْسَكَهَا وَإِنْ سَخِطَهَا رَدَّهَا وَصَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ ».

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) forbade intercepting the riders, and he forbade town-dwellers to sell on behalf of Bedouin, (and he forbade) a woman to ask for the divorce of her sister, (and he forbade) artificial inflation of prices and allowing milk to accumulate in the udders, (and he forbade) a man from urging a seller to cancel a sale already agreed upon with his brother, so as to buy the goods himself.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِى حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَدِىٍّ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ - عَنْ أَبِى حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- نَهَى عَنِ التَّلَقِّى لِلرُّكْبَانِ وَأَنْ يَبِيعَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ وَأَنْ تَسْأَلَ الْمَرْأَةُ طَلاَقَ أُخْتِهَا وَعَنِ النَّجْشِ وَالتَّصْرِيَةِ وَأَنْ يَسْتَامَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) forbade artificial inflation of prices.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- نَهَى عَنِ النَّجْشِ.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) forbade intercepting traders until they reach the markets with their goods. This is the wording of Ibn Numair.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِى زَائِدَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِى ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِى كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- نَهَى أَنْ تُتَلَقَّى السِّلَعُ حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ الأَسْوَاقَ. وَهَذَا لَفْظُ ابْنِ نُمَيْرٍ. وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ إِنَّ النَّبِىَّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- نَهَى عَنِ التَّلَقِّى.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah from the Prophet (s.a.w) that he forbade intercepting people with their goods before they reached the market.

وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُبَارَكٍ عَنِ التَّيْمِىِّ عَنْ أَبِى عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنْ تَلَقِّى الْبُيُوعِ.

Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Do not intercept incoming merchants. Whoever intercepts them and buys from them, when the owner of the merchandise reaches the market, he has the choice."'

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِى عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِى هِشَامٌ الْقُرْدُوسِىُّ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- قَالَ « لاَ تَلَقَّوُا الْجَلَبَ. فَمَنْ تَلَقَّاهُ فَاشْتَرَى مِنْهُ فَإِذَا أَتَى سَيِّدُهُ السُّوقَ فَهُوَ بِالْخِيَارِ ».

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ~ said: "No town-dweller should sell on behalf of a Bedouin." Zuhair said: "It was narrated from the Prophet (s.a.w) that he forbade town-dwellers to sell on behalf of Bedouins."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِىِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِىَّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- قَالَ « لاَ يَبِعْ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ ». وَقَالَ زُهَيْرٌ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَبِيعَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ.

It was narrated from Ibn Tawus, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) forbade intercepting the riders, and for a town dweller to sell on behalf of a Bedouin." He said: "I said to Ibn 'Abbas: 'What does it mean, "for a town dweller to sell on behalf of a Bedouin?" He said: 'He should not act as a broker for him."'

وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- أَنْ تُتَلَقَّى الرُّكْبَانُ وَأَنْ يَبِيعَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ. قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لاِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مَا قَوْلُهُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ قَالَ لاَ يَكُنْ لَهُ سِمْسَارًا.

It was narrated that Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'A town-dweller should not sell on behalf of a Bedouin. Let the people be, and Allah will provide for them by means of one another."'

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِىُّ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِى الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ ح. وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « لاَ يَبِعْ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ دَعُوا النَّاسَ يَرْزُقِ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ ». غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِى رِوَايَةِ يَحْيَى « يُرْزَقُ ».

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "We were forbidden that a town-dweller should sell on behalf of a Bedouin, even if he was his brother or father."

وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ نُهِينَا أَنْ يَبِيعَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ. وَإِنْ كَانَ أَخَاهُ أَوْ أَبَاهُ.
