It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) entered upon one of his Companions to visit him as he was sick, and he had become like a chicken - a Hadith like that of Humaid (no. 6836), except that he (s.a.w) said: "You cannot bear the punishment of Allah." And he (the narrator) did not mention (the words), "Then he prayed to Allah for him, and He healed him."

وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يَعُودُهُ ، وَقَدْ صَارَ كَالْفَرْخِ. بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ حُمَيْدٍ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: لاَ طَاقَةَ لَكَ بِعَذَابِ اللهِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ: فَدَعَا اللَّهَ لَهُ ، فَشَفَاهُ.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, has angels who travel about, with no other task but to seek out gatherings of Adh-Dhikr (remembrance of Allah). When they find a gathering in which Allah is remembered, they sit with them, and encircle them with their wings, until they fill the space between earth and the first heaven. When they part, they (the angels) ascend to the heaven, and Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, asks them, although He knows best: 'From where have you come?' They say: 'We have come from some of Your slaves on earth, who were Glorifying You, proclaiming Your Greatness, proclaiming Your Oneness, Praising You and asking of You.' He says: 'What are they asking of Me?' They say: 'They are asking You for Your Paradise.' He says: 'Have they seen My Paradise?' They say: No, O Our Lord. He says: 'And what if they saw My Paradise?' They say: 'And they are seeking Your protection.' He says: 'From what are they seeking My protection?' They say: 'From Your Fire, O Lord.' He says: 'And what if they saw My Fire?' They say: 'And they are asking You for forgiveness.' He says: 'I have forgiven them, and given them what they asked for, and granted them protection from that which they sought My protection.' They say: 'Lord, among them is so-and-so, a sinner who was merely passing by, then he sat with them.' He says: 'Him too I have forgiven. They are people whose companion will not be miserable."'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مَلاَئِكَةً سَيَّارَةً ، فُضُلاً يَبْتَغُونَ مَجَالِسَ الذِّكْرِ ، فَإِذَا وَجَدُوا مَجْلِسًا فِيهِ ذِكْرٌ قَعَدُوا مَعَهُمْ ، وَحَفَّ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا بِأَجْنِحَتِهِمْ ، حَتَّى يَمْلَؤُوا مَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا ، فَإِذَا تَفَرَّقُوا عَرَجُوا وَصَعِدُوا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، قَالَ : فَيَسْأَلُهُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِمْ : مِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتُمْ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ : جِئْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِ عِبَادٍ لَكَ فِي الأَرْضِ ، يُسَبِّحُونَكَ وَيُكَبِّرُونَكَ وَيُهَلِّلُونَكَ وَيَحْمَدُونَكَ وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ ، قَالَ : وَمَاذَا يَسْأَلُونِي ؟ قَالُوا : يَسْأَلُونَكَ جَنَّتَكَ ، قَالَ : وَهَلْ رَأَوْا جَنَّتِي ؟ قَالُوا : لاَ ، أَيْ رَبِّ قَالَ: فَكَيْفَ لَوْ رَأَوْا جَنَّتِي ؟ قَالُوا: وَيَسْتَجِيرُونَكَ، قَالَ: وَمِمَّ يَسْتَجِيرُونَنِي؟ قَالُوا: مِنْ نَارِكَ يَا رَبِّ ، قَالَ: وَهَلْ رَأَوْا نَارِي ؟ قَالُوا: لاَ ، قَالَ: فَكَيْفَ لَوْ رَأَوْا نَارِي ؟ قَالُوا: وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَكَ ، قَالَ: فَيَقُولُ: قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَهُمْ فَأَعْطَيْتُهُمْ مَا سَأَلُوا ، وَأَجَرْتُهُمْ مِمَّا اسْتَجَارُوا ، قَالَ :فَيَقُولُونَ : رَبِّ فِيهِمْ فُلاَنٌ عَبْدٌ خَطَّاءٌ ، إِنَّمَا مَرَّ فَجَلَسَ مَعَهُمْ ، قَالَ: فَيَقُولُ: وَلَهُ غَفَرْتُ هُمُ الْقَوْمُ لاَ يَشْقَى بِهِمْ جَلِيسُهُمْ.

It was narrated that 'Abdul-'Aziz bin Suhaib said: Qatadah asked Anas: Which supplication did the Prophet (s.a.w) say the most?' He said: The supplication that he said the most was: "Allahumma atina fid-dunya' hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qina 'adhaban-nar. (O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of the Fire.)" When Anas wanted to say a supplication, he would say these words, and when he had a specific need he would include these words in his supplication.

حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ قَتَادَةُ أَنَسًا أَيُّ دَعْوَةٍ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْثَرَ ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَكْثَرُ دَعْوَةٍ يَدْعُو بِهَا يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً ، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ. قَالَ: وَكَانَ أَنَسٌ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِدَعْوَةٍ دَعَا بِهَا ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِدُعَاءٍ دَعَا بِهَا فِيهِ.

It was narrated that Anas said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) used to say: 'Rabbana atina fid-dunya' hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qina 'adhaban-nar. (O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of the Fire.)'"

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ: رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً ، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Whoever says: 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu Ia sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir (None has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion, to Him is praise and He has power over all things)' one hundred times in a day, it will be the equivalent of his freeing one hundred slaves, and one hundred good deeds will be recorded for him, and one hundred bad deeds will be erased for him, and it will be a protection for him against the Shaitan all day until evening comes, and no one will do anything better than what he has done except one who does more than that. And whoever says: 'Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi (Glory and praise is to Allah)' one hundred times in a day, his sins will be erased, even if they are like the foam of the sea."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ: لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ، فِي يَوْمٍ مِئَةَ مَرَّةٍ ، كَانَتْ لَهُ عَدْلَ عَشْرِ رِقَابٍ ، وَكُتِبَتْ لَهُ مِئَةُ حَسَنَةٍ وَمُحِيَتْ عَنْهُ مِائَةُ سَيِّئَةٍ ، وَكَانَتْ لَهُ حِرْزًا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ ، يَوْمَهُ ذَلِكَ ، حَتَّى يُمْسِيَ وَلَمْ يَأْتِ أَحَدٌ أَفْضَلَ مِمَّا جَاءَ بِهِ إِلاَّ أَحَدٌ عَمِلَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، وَمَنْ قَالَ : سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، فِي يَوْمٍ مِئَةَ مَرَّةٍ حُطَّتْ خَطَايَاهُ وَلَوْ كَانَتْ مِثْلَ زَبَدِ الْبَحْرِ.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Whoever says in the morning and in the evening: 'Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi (Glory and praise his to Allah)' one hundred times, no one will come on the Day of Resurrection with anything better than what he has done, except one who said something like what he said, or more than that."

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الأُمَوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنْ قَالَ: حِينَ يُصْبِحُ وَحِينَ يُمْسِي: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، مِئَةَ مَرَّةٍ ، لَمْ يَأْتِ أَحَدٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، بِأَفْضَلَ مِمَّا جَاءَ بِهِ ، إِلاَّ أَحَدٌ قَالَ مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ ، أَوْ زَادَ عَلَيْهِ.

It was narrated that 'Amr bin Maimun said: "Whoever says: 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu Ia sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir (None has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion, to Him be praise and He has power over all things)' tens times, he will be like one who freed four slaves among the sons of Isma'il.

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الْغَيْلاَنِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ يَعْنِي الْعَقَدِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، قَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ: لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ، عَشْرَ مِرَارٍ كَانَ كَمَنْ أَعْتَقَ أَرْبَعَةَ أَنْفُسٍ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ.

A similar report (as Hadith no. 6844) was narrated from Ash-Sha'bi from Rabi' bin Khuthaim. (Ash-Sha'bi) said: "I said to Rabi': 'From whom did you hear it?' He said: 'From 'Amr bin Maimun."' He said: "I went to 'Amr bin Maimum and said: 'From whom did you hear it?' He said: 'From Ibn Abi Laila."' He said: "I went to Ibn Abi Laila and said: 'From whom did you hear it?' He said: 'From Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, who narrated it from the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w)."'

وقَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي السَّفَرِ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ رَبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، بِمِثْلِ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لِلرَّبِيعِ: مِمَّنْ سَمِعْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ: مِنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَيْمُونٍ فَقُلْتُ: مِمَّنْ سَمِعْتُهُ ؟ قَالَ مِنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى فَقُلْتُ: مِمَّنْ سَمِعْتُهُ ؟ قَالَ: مِنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ يُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Two words that are light on the tongue and heavy in the Scale, and beloved to the Most Merciful: Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allahil-azim (Glory and praise be to Allah, and Glory to be Allah the Almighty)."'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ ، قَالُوا: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: كَلِمَتَانِ خَفِيفَتَانِ عَلَى اللِّسَانِ ، ثَقِيلَتَانِ فِي الْمِيزَانِ، حَبِيبَتَانِ إِلَى الرَّحْمَنِ: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيمِ.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Saying 'Subhan Allahi wal-hamdu-lillahi, wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu, Akbar (Saying 'Glory is to Allah, praise is to Allah, none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and Allah is most great)' is dearer to me than everything upon which the sun rises."'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لأَنْ أَقُولَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ، وَلاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ.
