فَحَقَّ عَلَیْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَاۤ ۖۗ اِنَّا لَذَآىِٕقُوْنَ۝۳۱

The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment),

فَاَغْوَیْنٰكُمْ اِنَّا كُنَّا غٰوِیْنَ۝۳۲

For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray."

فَاِنَّهُمْ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ فِی الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُوْنَ۝۳۳

So, they will become partners in punishment.

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِیْنَ۝۳۴

That is how We deal with sinners.

اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْۤا اِذَا قِیْلَ لَهُمْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ ۙ یَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَۙ۝۳۵

They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence,

وَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ اَىِٕنَّا لَتَارِكُوْۤا اٰلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُوْنٍؕ۝۳۶

And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?"

بَلْ جَآءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَ صَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ۝۳۷

Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers.

اِنَّكُمْ لَذَآىِٕقُوا الْعَذَابِ الْاَلِیْمِۚ۝۳۸

You will indeed taste a painful punishment,

وَ مَا تُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَۙ۝۳۹

And be rewarded but only for what you had done,

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ۝۴۰

Except the chosen creatures of God,
