اِذْ نَجَّیْنٰهُ وَ اَهْلَهٗۤ اَجْمَعِیْنَۙ۝۱۳۴

Wherefore We saved him and his entire family

اِلَّا عَجُوْزًا فِی الْغٰبِرِیْنَ۝۱۳۵

Except an old woman who was one of those who stayed behind.

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْاٰخَرِیْنَ۝۱۳۶

Then We destroyed the others.

وَ اِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّوْنَ عَلَیْهِمْ مُّصْبِحِیْنَ۝۱۳۷

You pass by (their habitations) in the morning

وَ بِالَّیْلِ ؕ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ۠۝۱۳۸

Or at night. Then how is it you do not understand?

وَ اِنَّ یُوْنُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَؕ۝۱۳۹

Verily Jonah is one of the apostles.

اِذْ اَبَقَ اِلَی الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُوْنِۙ۝۱۴۰

When he fled on the laden ship,

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِیْنَۚ۝۱۴۱

And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard).

فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوْتُ وَ هُوَ مُلِیْمٌ۝۱۴۲

Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame.

فَلَوْ لَاۤ اَنَّهٗ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِیْنَۙ۝۱۴۳

Had he not been one of those who struggled hard,
