لَلَبِثَ فِیْ بَطْنِهٖۤ اِلٰی یَوْمِ یُبْعَثُوْنَۚ۝۱۴۴

He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised.

فَنَبَذْنٰهُ بِالْعَرَآءِ وَ هُوَ سَقِیْمٌۚ۝۱۴۵

So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore,

وَ اَنْۢبَتْنَا عَلَیْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّنْ یَّقْطِیْنٍۚ۝۱۴۶

And We made a gourd tree grow over him.

وَ اَرْسَلْنٰهُ اِلٰی مِائَةِ اَلْفٍ اَوْ یَزِیْدُوْنَۚ۝۱۴۷

We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more,

فَاٰمَنُوْا فَمَتَّعْنٰهُمْ اِلٰی حِیْنٍؕ۝۱۴۸

And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age.

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ اَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَ لَهُمُ الْبَنُوْنَۙ۝۱۴۹

Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons?

اَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةَ اِنَاثًا وَّ هُمْ شٰهِدُوْنَ۝۱۵۰

Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it?

اَلَاۤ اِنَّهُمْ مِّنْ اِفْكِهِمْ لَیَقُوْلُوْنَۙ۝۱۵۱

Is it not a lie invented by them when they say:

وَلَدَ اللّٰهُ ۙ وَ اِنَّهُمْ لَكٰذِبُوْنَ۝۱۵۲

"God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed!

اَصْطَفَی الْبَنَاتِ عَلَی الْبَنِیْنَؕ۝۱۵۳

Does He prefer sons to daughters?
